Play! Ball

No new photos for now. They are in the camera, and I don't have the energy to download, resize them, etc right now.

So we had a pretty good weekend here. The weather was fantastic (ok, maybe a little too hot, going from 35 earlier in the week with rain, right to 80+, not cool) except we had a lot of wind. When i say a lot of wind, i mean a lot. It picks up some good speed since it is so flat here.

We celebrated Christina's birthday last week. The big 2-5, quart of a century. I keep on teasing her about it, but 25 is nothing, plenty of time to live our lives. We went out for dinner, had some cake that was way too bad for us, and so forth. She is a luckily one and gets her birthday off from work, which i would love (except mine is on a Sunday this year, so technically I have it off.

One of the nights we went to the batting cages to prepare for the upcoming softball practice. It was really good that we went, but it made us realize we have not used a lot of those muscles in awhile, and we were pretty sore (even more sore now)

Saturday we went for a quick trip to the mall for part of Christina's b-day present, which is new softball cleats. However it seems that the local highschool girls teams etc have already cleared the cleats out in the common middle sizes. We will probably take a trip down to Indy since they have more selection. Plus I was looking at a new bat for us..

Saturday was also the opening of the zoo. Not many photos since it was hot, wind, and packed with kids. They moved things around a bit. Lynx are gone (hopefully just moved) and the "Barn Owl" exhibit which is new, and has all the signage... just has a vulture in it. I don't know if that is what Hoosiers things an owl is, or what... Plus they put it right next to the prairie dogs, as it sat in the tree and watching the area. No prairie dogs were to be seen, hmmmm wonder why, maybe because a vulture is watching them.

I don't remember what else we did on saturday. We were outside a lot, i know we grilled, and i have been on the computer a lot too, getting my new blog ready that is all about design, it will be officially launching soon.

Sunday (today) we went to church in the morning and then had our first softball practice at 1:30. It went really good except that wind i told you about earlier. The fields are a huge flat area, so it picked up some speed. If you threw the ball it would curve a bit. Strong winds.

So we me some people, but it was hard to do much with the wind. So we went through randomly hitting and fielding. But i don't know exactly who is playing. There are 2 teams a mens team and a co-ed team, and the one of the other guys brought his other team he plays for to practice with us, so I have no idea who is actually playing on what team. So, even more sore now, and with the wind, you couldn't tell, but it was pretty hot and sunny out, so now i am sunburnt. I flew my kite a bit while waiting for practice as well, probably came close to loosing it because of the wind. Overall theme of the post: Wind.

One last thing. So we met this guy at practice his name is Kelly. New to the area, just moved a couple months ago from new york. We chatted with him a bit. then all left. We stopped at the library really quick and then headed home. We were almost here and we notice a car in front of us, a convertible, and not a common one here, with new york plates, and Kelly was driving it. So then we started remembering our conversation we had with him. He joked about new york and said how his place here has giant walk in closets the size of his old apartment. Yeah... we have giant walk in closets here at our place. So we put 2 and 2 together and realized he lives in the same apartment complex has us, and sure enough on goes his blinker and he turns in. He parked right across from out building and we said Hey out the window to him. He seemed a little freaked out and said this kind of half joking "Hey, did you guys follow me?". Very crazy that he lives right across from he drive way from us. Don't know if he is playing on our team though, he is playing on the men's league for sure, but doesn't know about the co-ed.

So that is enough of a recap and boring, random stories. Goodnight.
