So, first off I've got to say we don't really go out to movies anymore. We were quite spoiled with the competition of three theaters in Kalamazoo and the insanely cheap prices. So last summer we went to movies a lot, this summer not so much. When it's 6.75 a person, just to goto a matinee and 8.75 to go at night, it cuts down on the movies. Yeah, we could go to one of the other theaters in the area they own (they own all 3, monopoly anyone...) but we went to one and it was seriously crappy. So when we goto the movies now (we've been to 2 in the 9 months living here) we have t make it count. We thought that would be Indiana Jones, but with so so reviews, we decided to try this, very good idea.
So on to the movie. It was really really good. The reviews all said it exceeded expectations and all that usually jazz and hype, but it really did. Solid movie for a more minor less main stream comic book setup. It had a lot of action, but didn't feel the need to pack 120% action in to every scene. It had a bit of humor (and not the kind of spider man 3 humor, or that could have just been me laughing at how the alien symbiant turned spider man into an emo idiot). It even had that slight love story, but not enough to where it was trying too hard.
So the plot was really good, no bouncing all over. Definite point A to point B. The special effects were great and the suit was amazing. I mean who wouldn't want a suit like that. The "evil villain" was a little cheesy at one part, but not enough to do any harm.
Also, along with the movie being really good overall. The end credits were amazing. Really great line art, all over the screen, technical drawing style. Good stuff. This will probably be the first part i watch again when i buy the movie. Yes, I did say buy a movie. we all know how rare that is with me...
So overall, it's a must see. I thought i would wait and rent it, but the big screen and surround sound is perfect for it.
I'd give it a 4 out of 5 (extremely good, but not perfect, but what is...)

Like you, I was very impressed with Iron Man. Downey Jr. fit my image of Tony Stark perfectly. Furthermore, it seems that comic books in general are turning towards realism, that is, characters with motivations beyond punching out the next flamboyantly costumed villain. Your right on another point, the last Spider-Man movie was ridiculous. Nonetheless, I'm glad you liked the movie- good post!
